James doubtful for Panama clash, Rice less of a concern for England

Short overview
Reece James missed England training due to a hamstring issue, casting doubt on his availability for the World Cup group match against Panama. Declan Rice also sat out but his fitness is less concerning, though he risks suspension.
Reece James missed training with England on Thursday, casting doubt on his fitness for the Three Lions' final Group L match against Panama on Saturday (22:00 BST). The 26-year-old right-back sustained a hamstring problem during the goalless draw with Ghana on Tuesday and did not participate in the team's penultimate session before the game at New York New Jersey Stadium.
James, a Chelsea defender, has been a key member of the starting XI under manager Thomas Tuchel and has featured in both World Cup matches so far. It remains unclear whether he will be fit enough to start or be available as a substitute for the crucial group-stage encounter.
Rice's fitness and suspension risk
Declan Rice, who left Boston Stadium after the Ghana draw with strapping on his left calf, was also absent from Thursday's session at England's training base in Kansas City. However, sources indicate that the 27-year-old midfielder's fitness is less of a concern compared to James.
Tuchel must decide whether to start Rice, especially given the midfielder's risk of suspension for the round of 32 after receiving a yellow card against Ghana. A second booking would rule him out of the knockout stage opener.
Group L standings
England currently lead Group L ahead of Ghana by virtue of a superior goal difference. They also hold a one-point advantage over Croatia, whom they defeated 4-2 in their opening match. The final group fixtures will determine which teams advance to the knockout phase.
