Mexico secured their second consecutive Concacaf U20 Championship title with a comprehensive 2-0 victory over the United States in the final at Estadio Azteca on Sunday. Cristobal Alfaro was the hero for Mexico, scoring both goals in front of a passionate home crowd. The opening goal came midway through the first half when Alfaro headed in from close range after a teammate directed a header into his path from a free-kick. The USA's task became even harder just before halftime when captain Chris Applewhite was shown a red card following a VAR review for raising his leg in an attempted challenge.
