England defender Poppy Pattinson has committed her long-term future to London City Lionesses by signing a contract extension that will keep her at the club until the summer of 2029. The 26-year-old full-back, who made her senior England debut in March 2026, has been rewarded for her performances despite a challenging previous season marred by injury.
Injury setback and international breakthrough
Pattinson missed much of the 2025-26 season due to injury, but she returned to fitness in time to earn a call-up to the England squad for the 2027 Women's World Cup qualification matches against Ukraine and Iceland. She made her senior debut in those fixtures, a milestone she credits in part to the support she received at London City Lionesses.
"Last season was a bit of a rollercoaster on a personal level," said Pattinson. "It started off with an injury which was a new challenge. I came back and then earned an international call-up off the back of that. I'll always be grateful and never forget that debut came while I was at this club."
Career journey and club ambitions
Before joining London City Lionesses, Pattinson gained experience in the Women's Super League with Manchester City, Everton, and Brighton. She expressed her satisfaction with the new deal and her belief in the club's potential.
"I'm really pleased to sign a new contract at this club," she added. "As a player you want to feel you are at a club where you can still learn and grow. I think I have a lot left in me to do just that. I think the squad has huge potential and I'm excited to be a part of that."
The contract extension underscores London City Lionesses' ambition to build a competitive squad as they continue their push for promotion to the Women's Super League. Pattinson's experience at both domestic and international levels will be crucial for the team's development.
