Aston Villa have completed the signing of Norway international Justine Kielland from German club Wolfsburg, subject to visa approval. The 23-year-old defensive midfielder joins the Women's Super League side after a stint in the Frauen-Bundesliga.

Career progression

Kielland began her professional career with Stabaek in Norway before moving to fellow Norwegian side Brann in 2023. During her time at Brann, she helped the club reach the quarter-finals of the Women's Champions League, scoring four goals in 12 appearances. Her performances earned her a transfer to Wolfsburg in 2024.

Internationally, Kielland has progressed through Norway's youth set-up and has become a regular in the senior national side, earning 16 caps.

Excitement for new challenge

Speaking about her move, Kielland said: "It's an amazing feeling. I'm really excited now to finally be here. Putting on the jersey for the first time feels really good, I'm excited to get started."

She also expressed enthusiasm for the Women's Super League: "I'm looking forward to the competitiveness in the Women's Super League. You can see every team is getting better and the league is taking steps every year, so I'm really excited to test myself here as well."

Positive words from teammate

Kielland revealed that new Villa teammate Lynn Wilms had spoken highly of the club before the move. "I had a call with Lynn and heard her thoughts," she added. "Everything she said was positive and every person I've spoken to, has only had positive things to say. I'm really looking forward to getting started."
