Aston Villa have completed the signing of Norway international defender Mathilde Harviken from Juventus, the club announced. The 24-year-old joins the Women's Super League side after making nearly 50 appearances for the Italian club since her arrival in January 2025.

Successful stint in Italy

During her time at Juventus, Harviken featured in the Women's Champions League and helped the club secure the Serie A title and Coppa Italia in the 2024-25 season. She also played a role in winning the inaugural Serie A Women's Cup in 2025.

Career background

Harviken began her professional career in Norway with FL Fart and Roa IL before joining Rosenborg in 2022. At Rosenborg, she made over 80 appearances and established herself as a key player. Her performances earned her a move to Juventus in January 2025.

International experience

Harviken made her senior debut for Norway in 2022 after progressing through the youth ranks. She was part of the Norway squads at the 2023 Women's World Cup and Euro 2025, gaining valuable tournament experience.

Speaking about her move, Harviken said: "It's a really good opportunity to join a club with such a big history. There are great facilities here and everything you need to perform and continue developing as a player."

Aston Villa's director of women's football, Marisa Ewers, expressed the club's long-standing interest in the defender. "Mathilde is a player we've been tracking for over two years and we've been consistently impressed by her development. She has a lot of experience for her age and we believe she has all the attributes to make an impact here and continue developing. We're excited to see what she can bring to the team," Ewers said.
