With the 2026 FIFA World Cup set to feature more teams than ever before, the tournament will be hosted across 16 cities in three North American nations: the United States, Mexico, and Canada. To mark day two of the World Cup, BBC Sport has released a quiz challenging fans to identify seven of those host cities.

Quiz details

The quiz presents participants with clues to help them determine which cities have been selected. While the full list of 16 host cities includes major metropolitan areas across the three countries, the quiz focuses on a subset of seven. The clues are designed to test knowledge of each city's landmarks, culture, and football history.

The 2026 World Cup will be the first to feature 48 teams, expanding from the previous 32-team format. The tournament will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, marking the first time three nations have jointly hosted the event. Mexico previously hosted the World Cup in 1970 and 1986, while the United States hosted in 1994. Canada will be hosting the men's World Cup for the first time.
