Short overview

Thibaut Courtois said he felt pain in his quadriceps but could stay in goal except for long kicks. The manager decided to substitute him, which Courtois accepted as the team comes first.

Thibaut Courtois has spoken about the injury that forced him off the pitch. The goalkeeper said he felt significant pain in his quadriceps but was able to continue in goal, with the exception of taking long kicks.

“I felt a lot of pain in my quadriceps. But I had no problem with staying in goal though, only for long kicks,” Courtois stated.

The decision to substitute him was made by the manager, a move Courtois fully supported. “In the end the manager decided to take me off, this is no problem as the team goes above everything,” he added.
