The artwork, which depicts Hurst celebrating his hat-trick in the 1966 World Cup final, was revealed in the town where he grew up. Hurst, now 81, attended the unveiling ceremony and expressed his gratitude for the honor.

"There are no words to describe it," Hurst said. "It's absolutely fantastic. I'm very proud and very humbled."

World Cup hero's legacy

Hurst remains the only man to score a hat-trick in a World Cup final, a feat he achieved in England's 4-2 victory over West Germany at Wembley Stadium on July 30, 1966. His third goal, a powerful strike in extra time, is one of the most iconic moments in English football history.

The mural is part of a series of public artworks celebrating local heroes in the area. It was painted by artist Nathan Murdoch, who said he wanted to capture Hurst's "iconic moment" and inspire future generations.

Hurst, who was knighted in 1998, has been a prominent figure in football since his playing days, which included spells at West Ham United and Stoke City. He also served as a manager and a football ambassador.
