England captain Harry Kane has described playing golf with United States President Donald Trump as a 'surreal' experience. The Bayern Munich striker made the comments ahead of England's World Cup quarter-final against Norway in Miami on Saturday.

Golf invitation from the president

Kane revealed that Trump invited him to play golf in Palm Beach, Florida, approximately 18 months ago. 'When the president invites you somewhere...' Kane said. 'It was a pretty surreal experience just to meet him and obviously play golf with him.'

The 31-year-old striker, who has scored six goals and provided one assist for England at the World Cup, said he played well during the round. 'I played alright to be honest,' he added.

Trump's golf game praised

Kane also complimented Trump's golfing ability. 'His golf is pretty good, to be honest with you. I hope I can play golf as good as him when I'm his age, that's for sure,' Kane said. 'A unique experience, but I was just grateful that he invited me to play.'

Trump's comments on Kane

The US president, 80, had previously mentioned the golf outing after England's 3-2 victory over Mexico in the round of 16. 'I think Kane is a great player,' Trump said. 'I played golf with him and I like him a lot. He's a good golfer too. He's really great.'

The United States is co-hosting the 2026 World Cup alongside Canada and Mexico, adding a political dimension to England's presence in the tournament.
