Andrea Pirlo has issued a public statement addressing the controversy surrounding his collaboration with a Russian brand, which became a key topic in Italy ahead of his reported verbal agreement to become the head coach of the Italian national team. The former Juventus and AC Milan midfielder, who is currently coaching in the United Arab Emirates, expressed regret over the debate that has unfolded around his name.

In his statement, Pirlo said: "In recent days I have watched with great bitterness the debate that has developed around my name and the possibility of taking on the role of head coach of the Italian national team. Out of respect for the institutions, the Federation, and all the people involved, I have so far chosen to remain silent. However, I believe it is necessary to clarify a few points."

Pirlo emphasized that throughout his career, both as a player and as a coach, he has always operated in full compliance with the laws of the countries where he has worked and with the contracts he has signed. He described the professional collaboration at the center of the controversy as "exclusively commercial and sporting in nature," arising from his work experience in the United Arab Emirates.

"Attributing a political meaning to that collaboration means attributing to me beliefs that I have never expressed and that do not belong to me," Pirlo added.

Pirlo also thanked Paolo Maldini and Leonardo, two former teammates and football executives, for their esteem and trust. "I know their competence, their seriousness, and the love they have always dedicated to Italian football," he said.
