Canada's Dramatic Extra-Time Victory
In the opening quarter-final, Canada edged Jamaica 3-1 in a thrilling encounter that required extra time. Liam Mackenzie gave Canada the lead, but Jahmarie Nolan equalized from the penalty spot in the final minutes to force extra time. Mackenzie then converted a penalty in the additional period, and Max Vogele sealed the win with a spectacular left-footed strike. This marks Canada's ninth U-20 World Cup appearance and their first since 2007.
Mexico's Commanding Performance
In the nightcap, Mexico delivered a dominant display against Panama, securing a 4-0 victory. Juan Echilvestre opened the scoring with a header from Edwin Soto's cross. Hugo Camberos doubled the lead after his initial penalty was saved, calmly slotting home the rebound. Yohan Orozco added a thumping header, and Diego Ramirez rounded off the scoring late on. Mexico has now qualified for their second consecutive U-20 World Cup and 18th overall.
