Short overview
Tottenham Hotspur have signed Norwegian international goalkeeper Selma Panengstuen from SK Brann. The 23-year-old, who helped Brann win the league title under current Spurs coach Martin Ho, joins the Women's Super League side on a contract of undisclosed length.
Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Norwegian international goalkeeper Selma Panengstuen from SK Brann, with the 23-year-old describing the move as a "dream" come true.
Panengstuen rose to prominence in 2025, playing a key role in helping Bergen-based SK Brann win a second league title under current Spurs coach Martin Ho. She started all 27 league games that season, keeping 18 clean sheets. Her form earned her an international debut in a friendly against Sweden in June 2025, and she later played in a 1-0 home win in the first leg of a Women's Champions League qualifier against Manchester United in September 2025.
She has continued her strong form into the current Norwegian season, recording eight clean sheets in 11 games. However, she has opted to switch to Spurs to play in the Women's Super League.
Player's perspective
"This is a project that is going upwards," said Panengstuen, whose contract length has not been disclosed. "I have some friends here, and they have said some great things about Spurs."
Coach's view
Ho added: "Selma is a goalkeeper with outstanding potential who already has a strong foundation to her game. She has the qualities we value highly: shot-stopping ability, courage, communication, athleticism and the mentality to keep improving every single day."
The signing adds depth to Tottenham's goalkeeping options as they prepare for the upcoming WSL season. Panengstuen will join a squad that includes fellow Norwegian players, which may have influenced her decision.
