Real Madrid Denies Interest in Enzo Fernández, Calls Reports

Short overview
Real Madrid has officially denied any interest in signing Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernández, stating it has made no efforts—direct or indirect—to acquire the player and has no intention of doing so.
Real Madrid has issued a firm denial regarding reports linking the club with a move for Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernández. In an official statement, the Spanish giants said they have not made any attempts—direct or indirect—to sign the Argentine international and have no plans to pursue a transfer.
Official Statement
The statement read: “In light of the reports and statements that have appeared in recent days regarding Real Madrid C.F.'s alleged interest in the player Enzo Fernández, the club wishes to state that it has not made any efforts, either directly or indirectly, to sign the aforementioned player and, furthermore, has no intention of undertaking such a transfer.”
Real Madrid emphasized its respect for both the player and Chelsea FC, with whom it maintains “an excellent institutional relationship.” The club added: “Precisely out of respect for an institution like Chelsea FC and due to the principles of institutional loyalty that have always guided Real Madrid's actions, the club considers it necessary to categorically deny these unfounded speculations, which are completely untrue.”
Background of the Rumors
Reports had surfaced in recent days suggesting that Real Madrid was considering a move for Enzo Fernández, who joined Chelsea from Benfica in January 2023 for a British record transfer fee of €121 million. The 23-year-old World Cup winner has been a key figure for Chelsea, but the club has struggled for consistency, leading to speculation about potential departures.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, has been linked with several midfield targets as the club looks to strengthen its squad. However, the club’s statement makes clear that Fernández is not among them.
Club's Stance on Speculation
Real Madrid expressed regret that “despite the clarity of the facts and the lack of any action on the part of the club, information continues to be disseminated that does not correspond to reality and that only contributes to generating confusion among fans and unnecessarily harming the entities and people involved.”
The denial is unequivocal, with the club calling the reports “completely untrue” and urging an end to the speculation. The statement underscores Real Madrid’s policy of not commenting on transfer rumors unless they deem it necessary to protect their institutional relationships.
