Thomas brings a wealth of experience to Newcastle, having spent three years at Tottenham where she scored 13 goals in 66 appearances. She spent the second half of last season on loan at Liverpool and has also played for Manchester United and West Ham in the Women's Super League (WSL).
"I'm really excited - it's a really big club to play for," Thomas said. "I want to compete [with] and play for the best teams. Team culture is really important to me and I think I bring some good attributes to help push standards."
Newcastle's rebuilding summer
Newcastle finished sixth in WSL 2 last season after failing to win any of their final six games. The club has undergone a significant squad overhaul this summer, with leading scorer Emily Murphy departing for Brighton. However, Newcastle have brought in nine new players, including Thomas, to strengthen their ranks.
Manager Tanya Oxtoby expressed her satisfaction with the signing: "Martha is a proven striker both in the WSL and internationally. She is a physical striker and adds outstanding work-rate to the squad. She has shown that she has the ability to score all kinds of goals."
