Liverpool's Lundgaard Joins Eintracht Frankfurt

Liverpool midfielder Sofie Lundgaard has completed a permanent transfer to Eintracht Frankfurt for an undisclosed fee, the clubs have confirmed. The 24-year-old Danish player joined Liverpool in January 2023 and made 42 appearances during a spell hampered by significant injuries.

Lundgaard suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury and a fractured ankle during her three-and-a-half years at the club, which limited her game time in recent seasons. Despite these setbacks, she contributed to Liverpool's midfield when available.

Move to the Frauen-Bundesliga

Lundgaard now joins Eintracht Frankfurt in the Frauen-Bundesliga, Germany's top women's football league. Prior to her time in England, she played for Danish club Fortuna Hjorring, gaining experience in European competitions.

Frankfurt will be hoping Lundgaard can rediscover her best form away from the injury troubles that plagued her time at Liverpool. The club has a strong track record of developing players and competing at the highest level in German women's football.

Birmingham City's Bid for Fatou Kanteh Rejected

In other Women's Super League news, Birmingham City have had an offer rejected by Sevilla for Gambia winger Fatou Kanteh. Sources indicate that the Blues offered around €100,000 (£85,000) for the 29-year-old, but Sevilla value her significantly higher and are unwilling to sell.

Birmingham are not expected to make another bid for Kanteh, who has spent her entire career in Spain's Liga F. She has scored 12 goals in 63 matches for Sevilla, having previously played for Villarreal, Huelva, and Logrono.

Kanteh's rejection highlights the challenges clubs face in the transfer market, particularly when targeting players with strong ties to their current clubs. Sevilla's stance suggests they see Kanteh as a key asset for the upcoming season.
