Crystal Palace have completed the signing of striker Bethany England, the newly promoted Women's Super League club announced. The 32-year-old former Tottenham captain joins on a two-year contract with an option for an additional 12 months after her contract with Tottenham expired this summer.
Experienced striker adds firepower
England brings a wealth of experience to Palace, having enjoyed trophy success during a seven-year spell at Chelsea, where she won four WSL titles, two Women's FA Cups, and two Women's League Cups. She also played a key role in Tottenham's rise up the WSL and was part of the England squad that won Euro 2022 and finished runners-up at the 2023 Women's World Cup.
Throughout her WSL career, England has scored 87 goals. She left Tottenham as the club's all-time top scorer in the league with 32 goals.
Player and manager react
“It feels great to sign for Crystal Palace. I'm very excited to be here, and I'm looking forward to meeting all the girls and getting started,” said England, who will wear the number nine shirt. “Palace are an ambitious club. They've been in the WSL before, they've had two amazing promotions now, and I think you can see their investment in the women's game. They're really pushing to be among the best, and they've got amazing facilities. It's a place where I hope that I can make a lot of good memories, score a lot of goals, and make some history for the football club.”
Manager Jo Potter added: “We are absolutely delighted to have Bethany here at Palace. She has scored goals wherever she has gone, and I am sure she will be crucial for us next season.”
Palace's return to top flight
Crystal Palace gained promotion to the WSL last season by finishing runners-up in the second tier, following their relegation in 2025. The club previously spent time in the WSL before being relegated. With the signing of England, Palace aims to establish itself among the top teams in the league.
