Chelsea's Julia Bartel set to join Juventus

Short overview
Chelsea midfielder Julia Bartel is close to finalising a move to Juventus. The 22-year-old Spain youth international has struggled for game time at Chelsea, making only two appearances in two years, and spent last season on loan at Atletico Madrid.
Chelsea midfielder Julia Bartel is on the verge of completing a transfer to Italian club Juventus this summer, according to sources close to the player. The 22-year-old Spain youth international joined Chelsea from Barcelona in July 2024 on a three-year contract with an option for an additional year, but has found first-team opportunities limited at the Women's Super League club.
Limited appearances at Chelsea
Since arriving at Stamford Bridge, Bartel has made just two appearances for Chelsea in two seasons. To gain playing time, she was loaned to Liverpool for six months in 2025 before spending the 2025-26 campaign on loan at Atletico Madrid. During her time in Spain, Bartel featured in 43 matches across all competitions, scoring six goals and starting 15 of Atletico's Liga F fixtures.
Move to Juventus
Bartel is expected to finalise her move to Juventus in the coming days. The Serie A side is looking to reinforce their midfield following the departure of Lia Walti, who joined Brighton earlier this month. Juventus finished third in Italy's top flight last season and were eliminated from the Women's Champions League knockout stage play-offs by Wolfsburg.
The transfer would mark a new chapter for Bartel, who previously came through Barcelona's famed La Masia academy before her switch to Chelsea. Juventus will hope the young midfielder can rediscover the form that made her a standout at youth level for Spain.
