Sheffield fanzone to return if England reach World Cup quarter finals

Short overview
Sheffield City Council plans to open a World Cup fanzone at Devonshire Green if England beat Mexico on Monday to reach the quarter finals. The fanzone, named Fan City, will screen all remaining matches except one early-morning fixture, with free entry for non-England games.
Sheffield City Council has announced plans to open a World Cup fanzone at Devonshire Green if England defeat co-hosts Mexico on Monday to progress to the tournament's quarter finals. The fanzone, named Fan City, will replicate the setup used during England's run to the final of Euro 2024.
Fanzone details
If England advance, Devonshire Green will feature a giant screen and food and drink vendors for supporters. All remaining World Cup fixtures except one will be screened at the location. The second quarter final, which kicks off at 02:00 BST, will not be shown due to the late timing, the council confirmed.
Ticket and access information
Matches involving England will be ticketed, organizers said, while entry to other tournament games will be free. The council urged attendees to be considerate of local residents, especially given the late kick-off times for many matches.
Official comments
Councillor Ben Miskell said: "The return of Fan City at Devonshire Green offers the perfect opportunity to cheer on the boys alongside fellow football fans during the knockout stages. I would encourage all those who can to get down there and soak up the atmosphere."
Miskell added: "With late kick-off times for many games, those attending are being asked to respect those living around Devonshire Green."
The fanzone is part of the city's efforts to bring fans together for major football events, following the success of the Euro 2024 screenings.
